Oh yes, by all means ... let's give unions even MORE power, because they didn't extract enough from big corporations like General Motors to bankrupt them ... oh wait ... they DID? Never mind.
Poor planning and executive decision making ruined GM,
not the UAW. Those in charge could have responded in
the 70's when the first gasoline shortages made people
look at smaller, more efficient vehicles, but failed
to do so
Bottom line demands from those higher in the food chain
led them to create SUVs and Hummers while the Japanese and now the Korean motor companies designed and built vehicles that make a lot more sense.
Granted the UAW was in tall cotton for a long time but
now their sails have been trimmed and they travel a real
rocky road.
Both sides have learned a painful lesson.
